Job description

Department: MED-Medical Social Sciences
Salary/Grade: EXS/5
Target hiring range for this position will be between $51,346-$64,473 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
This position will support two NIH-funded grants focused on the development and dissemination of the NIH Baby Toolbox. Responsibilities include assessing infant and toddler participants, conducting interviews with parents and researchers, assisting with the implementation of new research protocols, supporting the logistics and materials for training workshops, providing assistance to workshop attendees, and helping develop content for an online training platform.
Opportunities for co-authorship on scientific publications and conference presentations are available. Applicants should have an interest in working with young children, collaborating as part of a research team, and be willing to work in person three days per week in downtown Chicago. Occasional evening and weekend availability may be required.
Specific Responsibilities:
Technical
  • Leads execution & control of a biomedical &/or social science project or research study.
  • Ensures completion of study activities per protocol including recruitment.
  • Ascertains pretreatment & eligibility requirements.
  • Obtains informed consent.
  • Registers participant with appropriate sponsor.
  • Interviews & obtains medical & social histories.
  • Administers, schedules &/or scores tests.
Administration
  • Oversees & manages collection, maintenance, analysis & evaluation of data that will be used in grant submissions, presentations & publications.
  • Ensures that information is entered correctly into databases.
  • Assists PI in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, formatting, editing, & preparing tables, charts, graphs, progress & final reports, etc.
Finance
  • Orders & maintains inventory of study supplies.
Supervision
  • Trains, directs, assigns duties to & supervises research staff, students, residents &/or fellows.
  • Acts as a mentor in regard to education of junior coordinators.
Miscellaneous
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 3 years' research study or other relevant experience required; OR
  • Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 1 year research study or other relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or project management experience required.
  • Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
  • Experience with standardized assessments including the NIH Baby Toolbox or similar assessment platforms (e.g., Mullen, Bayley)
  • Experience testing children ages 0-3 years
  • Experience working in a developmental research laboratory
  • Degree in Psychology, Child Development, or a related field
