Job description

District Curriculum Facilitator K-12 Science - Certified
The Kirkwood School District is hiring a Curriculum Facilitator to support K-12 Science department for the 2026/2027 school year.

  • Organizes, coordinates, develops and implements the district's K-12 Science curriculum at the primary, intermediate, and secondary levels.
  • Essential skills: establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff, and community. Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Must be able to effectively organize and prioritize work. Able to give and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to work independently. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Remains calm, uses good judgment, and thinks quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations. Ability to make responsible decisions on behalf of the students, staff, and community. Diffuses stressful situations with others. Makes a considerable contribution towards establishing positive relationships in all interactions. Positively develops cooperation of others. Consistently exceeds expectations in response to requests. Encourages teamwork and places the success of the team above individual gain.
  • Facilitators work with principals to support instructional leadership, and they work with teachers to support and assist the delivery of curriculum, instruction, and assessments through staff development, data analysis, model teaching, resource attainment, and curriculum/ assessment writing and development. Facilitators are energized by the broad scope and multi-faceted demands of instructional support and leadership.
  • Responsibilities of facilitators include writing curriculum, writing assessments, training teachers, gathering data, analyzing data, selecting instructional materials, having current knowledge of content issues/trends, knowing differentiated instructional strategies for various grade levels, maintaining a network with other curriculum experts throughout the metropolitan area and state, looking for connections among and between content areas.
  • Missouri state teaching certificate required. Ability to interpret test results and reports. Reliable transportation is necessary to travel between district buildings. Minimum qualifications require evidence of five years relevant teaching experience, leadership roles with adults, extended learning beyond teacher certification, content expertise, competencies using differentiated instructional strategies, competencies using culturally relevant instructional strategies, curriculum writing, assessment construction, data driven decision-making, closing the achievement gap among subgroups of students.
  • Lead and support New Teacher Orientation
  • Full-time position, teacher salary schedule with additional summer contract for 28 days.

This position includes an extended contract of 28 additional days.

Salary is based on the Certified Salary Schedule, depending on relevant education & experience.
