Weekend Sales Manager information

What does a weekend sales manager do?

A Weekend Sales Manager oversees the sales operations of a store or business during weekends, ensuring sales targets are met and customer service standards are maintained. They supervise sales staff, manage inventory, resolve customer issues, and implement promotional strategies to boost weekend sales. This role often includes scheduling shifts, reporting sales figures, and motivating the team to achieve optimal performance during the busiest shopping days.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend sales manager?

To thrive as a Weekend Sales Manager, you need strong sales acumen, leadership skills, and experience in retail or sales management, often supported by a relevant degree or prior supervisory experience. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, sales tracking software, and inventory management tools is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, motivational ability, and effective time management distinguish top performers in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for driving sales, managing weekend staff, and ensuring smooth operations during peak business periods.

What are the main challenges a weekend sales manager might face, and how can they effectively address them?

Weekend Sales Managers often encounter challenges such as high customer traffic, managing a part-time or rotating team, and meeting ambitious sales targets in a limited timeframe. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to quickly resolve customer and staff concerns, and adaptability to fast-paced retail environments. Proactively communicating with team members, setting clear goals for each shift, and staying attentive to customer needs are key strategies to overcome these challenges and drive weekend sales performance.

A weekend sales manager typically works around 8 to 10 hours per day during weekends, often from morning to evening shifts. The exact hours can vary depending on the company and store hours, and some managers may work additional hours for planning or meetings.

Is a weekend sales manager a stressful job?

A weekend sales manager role can be stressful due to the need to meet sales targets, manage staff, and handle customer issues within a limited schedule. The job often requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure during busy weekend hours.

What is usually the salary of a weekend sales manager?

The salary of a weekend sales manager typically ranges from $30,000 to $60,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and the size of the company. Job description

Our client a premier event and gaming destination in Southern Oregon is seeking a proactive, relationship-driven Sales Manager to grow group, convention, and event business for its destination resort and 25,000-square-foot convention center. This is an opportunity to build a true outbound sales engine. The resort's current business has been predominantly reactive; the successful candidate will bring a hunter mentality, an established understanding of the Pacific Northwest market, and the discipline to identify, pursue and convert new business.
This is not a traditional five-day-a-week, on-property hotel sales role. A full-time Sales Coordinator is based at the resort to support the sales function, allowing the Sales Manager to spend meaningful time in-market developing relationships and generating demand. An exceptional candidate may work remotely from anywhere in the Pacific Northwest through the northern tip of California, provided they know the Pacific Northwest meetings and group-sales market and can travel to the resort as business needs require.
What You'll Sell
• 25,000 square feet of flexible, contiguous meeting and event space.
• Group guestrooms, banquet facilities & resort experiences for corporate meetings, associations, trade shows, & social groups.
What We're Looking For
• Demonstrated hotel, resort, convention, destination or group-sales experience; at least two years of relevant conference or hotel sales experience required.
• Strong working knowledge of the Pacific Northwest meetings, conventions and group-sales market is essential.
• A proactive hunter who is comfortable building a territory, creating target-account lists, making outbound calls and opening new relationships.
• Existing relationships with corporate, association, meeting-planner, third-party or group accounts in the Pacific Northwest are highly desirable.
• Proven ability to sell meeting space, guestrooms, banquet/event business or comparable hospitality products.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, organizational and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote/market-based environment while remaining closely connected to the on-property team.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
