LOCAL FLATBED - Our local flatbed is basically a triangle between Pittsburgh, Cleveland and the Youngstown/Sharon areas

REGIONAL FLATBED- Our road drivers run Chicago on a regular basis but we also have regular runs to IN, and MI, with occasional runs to NC and AR. Longer runs may be available from time to time.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CLASS A FLATBED TRUCK DRIVER

A Class A Flatbed Truck Driver is responsible for the securement and safe transportation from point of pick-up to the designated point of delivery. Operates trucks with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds per gross vehicle weight.

  • Must be at least 25 years old
  • Must have a current, valid class “A” commercial driver's license with a clear MVR, or no more than 1 accident or minor traffic infraction on current MVR.
  • Must have at least 2 years of verifiable Class A FLATBED driving experience. Prefer 2 years Coil experience.
  • Operate and maintain Elog device and meet all D.O.T. 70 hour service requirements.
  • Must possess required skills to follow rules/regulations in loading, unloading, securement of cargo and proper tarping of any commodity loaded on a flatbed trailer.
  • Must follow all D.O.T. rules and R-K-Campf policies concerning the use of chains, binders, tarps and straps.
  • Driver must maneuver and control the truck/trailer in a safe manner. This includes handling parking in our facility, at pickup and delivery locations, over-the-road situations and other stops such as fuel stops and more. Driver must exhibit proper signaling, control speed as well as speed for conditions (wet, dry, snow, or ice), ability to drive defensively while searching for hazards and driving at nighttime as well as daytime conditions.
  • Must safely meet all assigned pick-up and delivery schedules
  • Be responsible for complete paperwork and signed Bill of Lading for each load delivered
  • Turn in necessary paperwork on a weekly basis
  • Have the ability to work safely outdoors in all kinds of weather
  • Be responsible for fueling, lubricating, light duty servicing of their assigned equipment and keeping windows washed
  • Constantly monitoring road conditions and watch for traffic congestion
  • Follow all applicable traffic laws
  • Driver must perform thorough Pre/Post Trip inspections daily
  • Driver must be able to follow all accident procedures if an accident occurs
  • Must maintain a state of cleanliness for the inside and outside of their vehicle
  • Possess the ability to be patient and respectful when picking up, delivering and all interaction while on duty with the public and our internal company personnel. You represent R-K-Campf Transport
  • Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
  • Plan routes using maps and/or GPS
  • Driver many need to occasionally lift and carry around 100 pounds
  • Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, lift overhead, work at heights, walk/work in rough terrain in order to access equipment, tools, material and job site in order to complete work
  • Perform all of the above job functions in a safe manner in order to avoid personal injury and equipment damage
