Job description

Patient Financial Counselor

Department: Patient Registration & Accounts
Schedule: Mondayโ€“Friday, Day Shift (No weekends or holidays)

Hours: 32 hours per week.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Financial Counselor to join our Patient Registration & Accounts team. This role requires a high volume of online, phone and in-person interaction, supporting patients with billing questions, payment solutions, and financial assistance options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service via MyChart, phone, and face-to-face interactions
  • Counsel patients on private pay billing, payment plans, and financial assistance programs
  • Assist patients in understanding and resolving account balances
  • Process financial assistance applications and required documentation
  • Manage daily deposits and maintain accurate financial records
  • Complete billing office tasks, including work queues and report management
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient revenue cycle processes

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of healthcare billing and/or collections experience (strongly preferred)
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with billing systems
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage difficult or sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
