Job description

Position: Inventory Manager
Work Location: Midway, GA 31320
Pay rate: $80,000/annum
Duration: Full-Time
Shift: (Mon - Fri), 8am - 5pm (flexible based on volume; early starts, late finishes, and occasional Saturdays may be required)

Job Description:
The Inventory Manager is responsible for end-to-end ownership of inventory accuracy, integrity, and financial impact across a high-volume distribution environment with approximately $175M in inventory. This role is heavily inventory-driven and goes beyond transactional control. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in large-scale inventory environments, understands how inventory decisions affect the P&L, and approaches problems systemically rather than case by case. This role serves as the inventory authority between internal operations and third-party logistics (3PL) partners and plays a critical role in audit readiness, forecasting, shrink strategy, and continuous process improvement across departments.

Role Purpose
  • Own inventory, accuracy and integrity for a large-volume distribution center
  • Act as the primary inventory authority between internal teams and 3PL partners
  • Ensure continuous audit readiness through strong controls, reconciliations, and documentation
  • Drive inventory strategy that supports financial performance, compliance, and operational efficiency
  • Serve as a key bridge between Operations, Finance, Compliance, and external partners

Core Responsibilities
Inventory Ownership & Strategy
  • Own end-to-end inventory accuracy across WMS, ERP, and 3PL systems
  • Manage inventory forecasting, inventory turns, and stock positioning to support operational and financial goals
  • Own shrink strategy, including prevention, tracking, and root-cause analysis
  • Develop and maintain inventory SOPs across departments, ensuring consistent execution

Reconciliation & Discrepancy Management
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc inventory reconciliations with 3PL partners
  • Review, validate, and approve 3PL inventory reports and transaction data
  • Investigate variances using systemic root-cause analysis, not one-off fixes
  • Escalate unresolved discrepancies and drive corrective actions

Financial Impact & Reporting
  • Understand and manage the financial impact of inventory decisions, including write-offs, reserves, shrink, and cost reduction
  • Partner closely with Finance to ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting
  • Produce inventory KPIs, trend analysis, and executive-level reporting
  • Leverage Power BI (strongly preferred) and advanced Excel skills to analyze and present inventory data

Counts, Audits & Compliance
  • Lead cycle counts, physical inventories, spot checks, and audit counts
  • Ensure documentation and controls support internal, external, and certification audits
  • Maintain audit-ready inventory records at all times

Training & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Train warehouse and operational teams on inventory procedures, controls, and system usage
  • Drive adherence to inventory SOPs and compliance requirements
  • Influence without direct authority, leading through expertise and accountability

GOTS / Certification-Specific Responsibilities
  • Manage certified product inventory with strict traceability and segregation requirements
  • Verify labeling, documentation, weight, and piece counts for certified goods
  • Maintain audit-ready certification records
  • Immediately flag certification discrepancies to Compliance
  • This role requires strong attention to detail and a compliance-focused mindset, not just warehouse experience.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong inventory-focused background in a high-volume distribution environment
  • Proven experience reconciling inventory with 3PL partners
  • Experience owning inventory forecasting, shrink strategy, and inventory turns
  • Ability to perform systemic root-cause analysis across processes and systems
  • Solid understanding of inventory’s financial impact (write-offs, reserves, cost control)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
  • Experience with Power BI strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of WMS and ERP systems
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and influence cross-functionally

Experience & Physical Requirements
  • 3–5 years of inventory management experience in a warehouse or distribution center
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Physically active role; standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Forklift operation required or expected
  • Flexible availability based on business needs, including occasional nights or weekends
