Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care to residents and supervises nursing assistants to ensure high-quality care in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Key responsibilities include planning and overseeing daily nursing activities, administering medications, completing required documentation, and maintaining patient confidentiality. The RN also performs professional nursing services such as catheterization, wound care, and IV care, while fostering a warm and collaborative environment. Additionally, the role involves coordinating with physicians, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining effective communication with residents, families, and staff to meet residents' needs.
Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Be able to perform all functions under your active license as it pertains to your assigned duties.
  • Know the residents you serve, providing care based on their care plans and physician orders.
  • Prepare & administer medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Develop & maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that nursing services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift. Receive/give the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
  • Assist in all aspects of a resident's daily life, including activities of daily living, meal service, and social engagement.
  • Appropriately communicate with clinical leadership when a resident's needs change.
  • Know how to approach and care for residents with dementia.
  • Be willing to take on other duties and assignments within the scope of your knowledge and experience.

Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a current unencumbered state license.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing & medical practices & procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
  • Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
  • Willing to take additional training or education, which specific states may require.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable while handling multiple priorities.
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication.
  • Competent in organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
