Job description

The Compliance Analyst plays a key role in supporting and enhancing Artisan Partners' compliance program. This position partners closely with experienced compliance professionals and internal teams to perform testing, surveillance, risk analysis, and compliance monitoring activities while helping to drive continuous improvement across compliance processes.
The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical mindset, sound judgment, and experience operating in highly regulated environments where confidentiality, risk awareness, and attention to detail are critical. The role offers an opportunity to build expertise in investment management compliance while contributing to emerging areas of focus, including surveillance technology, regulatory change management, and evolving governance frameworks.
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Responsibilities
The candidate can expect to:
  • Analyze compliance data, surveillance activity, and regulatory developments to identify emerging risks, trends, and opportunities to strengthen the firm's compliance framework
  • Review and investigate compliance surveillance alerts, conduct testing and monitoring activities, and help drive enhancements to controls, processes, and reporting
  • Prepare meaningful compliance dashboards, metrics, and presentations that provide insights to senior leadership and support key risk management decisions
  • Partner with compliance, legal, investment, and operational teams on risk assessments, regulatory initiatives, and strategic projects across the firm
  • Support core compliance programs, including political contributions, gifts and entertainment, anti-money laundering (AML), and third-party oversight activities
  • Monitor changes in the regulatory landscape and contribute to updates of policies, procedures, and compliance controls
  • Participate in expert network call reviews and other monitoring activities designed to protect the integrity of the firm's investment process
  • Develop a broad understanding of Artisan's investment strategies, business operations, and regulatory environment while building expertise across multiple areas of investment management compliance
  • Contribute to innovative compliance initiatives, including enhancements to surveillance technology, electronic communications monitoring, data analytics, and governance programs

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration or equivalent financial industry experience
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in compliance, internal audit, risk management, accounting, regulatory testing, surveillance, or related analytical roles
  • Interest in financial markets and willingness to develop expertise in investment management regulations and products
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines with a sense of urgency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including a focus on client service-mindedness
  • Ability to make independent judgment and handle confidential information
  • Exposure to Charles River, Bloomberg, Aladdin, and ACA ComplianceAlpha a plus; Microsoft Excel and Tableau proficiency is preferred
