What is a Weekend Revit?

Weekend Revit jobs are positions that require proficiency in Autodesk Revit, a popular building information modeling (BIM) software, and are specifically scheduled during weekends. These roles can include tasks such as drafting, modeling, or updating architectural and engineering plans. Weekend Revit jobs are ideal for individuals seeking flexible work hours or supplemental income, as well as students or professionals who want to gain more experience with Revit outside of standard weekday business hours.

What are the typical responsibilities and expectations for a Weekend Revit position?

In a Weekend Revit role, you will typically be responsible for creating and updating building information models (BIM) using Revit software, often supporting architectural, engineering, or construction teams on projects with tight deadlines. Weekend shifts may involve working independently or in small virtual teams, focusing on tasks such as drafting, detailing, and revising floor plans or construction documents. Communication is key, as you'll often coordinate with project managers or lead architects to ensure your work aligns with evolving project requirements. This position can provide valuable experience with real-world projects and may offer pathways to full-time roles or specialization in BIM workflows.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Revit technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Revit Technician, you need strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit, understanding of architectural or engineering drafting, and ideally a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) workflows, construction documentation standards, and collaboration tools like Navisworks or AutoCAD is typically required. Attention to detail, time management, and clear communication skills make someone stand out in this weekend-based role. These abilities are crucial for producing accurate models, meeting tight project deadlines, and ensuring seamless teamwork during non-standard work hours.

Job description

Multi-Discipline Designer - Mechanical / Electrical / Structural
Orlando, FL or Melbourne, FL
On-Site Role
6 Month Contract to Hire
$30 - $45/hr based on experience
ABOUT THE ROLE
Brooksource is hiring a Multi-Discipline Designer on behalf of our client, a top Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firm . This individual will support mechanical, electrical, and structural project teams by developing accurate 3D models and 2D design and construction documents. This role is ideal for an experienced Revit Designer or Drafter who has developed strong design capabilities and is comfortable taking engineering direction, sketches, and redlines and independently translating them into complete design deliverables.
Candidates may have a primary background in mechanical, electrical, or structural design , with mechanical and electrical experience being particularly relevant to the team's current needs. This individual is not expected to be an expert across every discipline but should be willing to learn and provide design support across multiple disciplines as project needs evolve.
The Designer will work closely with engineers, architects, project managers, and other designers on a diverse portfolio of commercial, defense, and other facility-related projects , providing an opportunity to broaden their technical capabilities and gain exposure across multiple engineering disciplines.
This role provides a strong opportunity for someone looking to expand beyond traditional drafting, broaden their technical design capabilities, and continue progressing into higher-level design responsibilities.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Develop and modify 3D Revit models and 2D design/construction drawings based on engineering sketches, redlines, markups, and verbal or written direction.
  • Translate engineering design intent into accurate drawings and models with minimal day-to-day guidance .
  • Perform design and drafting assignments within a primary discipline, such as mechanical, electrical, or structural, while supporting other disciplines as needed.
  • For mechanical assignments, support items such as equipment layouts, piping layouts/routing, and other mechanical system drawings.
  • For electrical assignments, support equipment layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and other electrical design drawings.
  • Incorporate redlines, markups, and design changes into ongoing project models and drawing packages.
  • Develop drawing sheets, cover sheets, indexes, layouts, details, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate models and drawings across disciplines to identify potential conflicts and ensure design information is aligned.
  • Communicate directly with engineers and other designers to resolve drawing, modeling, and coordination issues.
  • Review and self-check work for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before submitting deliverables for engineering review.
  • Follow company, client, and project design/drafting standards.
  • Maintain project drawings, models, files, and related documentation in an organized manner.
  • Assemble and issue complete project deliverable packages, including drawing PDFs, Revit/CAD files, 3D models, specifications, and other supporting documentation.
  • Complete assignments within established project schedules and budgeted hours.
  • Support multiple project types and disciplines based on workload and project needs.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • 3+ years of relevant Revit design, drafting, or modeling experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit is required , including experience developing and modifying 3D models and producing 2D construction/design documents.
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or similar collaborative Revit environments is preferred.
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus but is not a primary requirement.
  • Experience within mechanical, electrical/MEP, or structural design environments. Mechanical or electrical experience is particularly desirable.
  • Ability to understand engineering sketches, redlines, markups, and general design direction and independently translate them into models and drawings.
  • Enough design knowledge within the candidate's primary discipline to complete assignments without requiring highly detailed, one-to-one drafting instructions.
  • Degree is not required. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in drafting/design technology, engineering technology, or a related technical field is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and support multiple disciplines , including mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, and fire protection.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to review and self-check work before submission.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work directly with engineers, architects, project managers, and other designers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-discipline project environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
