Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The Nelson research group (https://research.fredhutch.org/peternelson/en.html)ย  at Fred Hutch Cancer Center has an opening for a Undergraduate Research Assistant interested in prostate cancer research and biomarker development to perform routine work in a research laboratory.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solution.
  • Rinse and prepare glassware for cleaning.
  • Maintain clean and orderly laboratory area.
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment.
  • Check and replenish supplies.
  • Assist with experiments and set-up.
  • Perform clerical duties as required.
  • Cell culture and maintenance of laboratory cell lines and organoids.
  • Nucleic acid extraction and purification.
  • Processing biospecimens for immunohistochemistry and related assays.
  • Assisting with assays of cancer therapeutics.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Applicants must be at least a first-year college student or recent graduate with familiarity with cell/tissue culture methods and techniques and familiarity with DNA and RNA extractions.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.30 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
