Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

JOB TITLE:  
Registered Behavior Technician

LOCATION:

Non-Exempt

General Definition of Work: 

  • A Registered Behavior Technician is a certified paraprofessional who provides direct, one-on-one services to individuals, by implementing treatment plans, collecting data, and teaching skills.
  • Work an 10-month, 188 day contract

Performance Expectations: 

The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following actions:

  • Provide 1:1 treatment to individuals in need of behavioral therapy in the school setting
  • Implementation of behavioral procedures for the acquisition of replacement skills and reduction of problematic behaviors under the supervision of a BCBA
  • Provide adequate feedback regarding progress to BCBA
  • Assist with various assessments (VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, Preference Assessments) as directed and supervised by the BCBA
  • Write progress notes, collect data, update, and maintain client data and graphs under the supervision of BCBA
  • Understands and adheres to the company's policy and procedures
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all interactions and assignments
  • Work independently while understanding the importance of constant communication and coordinating work efforts with BCBA and school staff
  • Support, train, and coach parents and/or caregivers in behavior management strategies to increase the generalization of client skill sets
  • Participate in weekly supervision and team meetings with the behavior team
  • Participate in progress and IEP review meetings with the IEP team, inclusive of family
  • Observe client skills and collect information/data as directed by the BCBA to be used in assessing client skills and developing client goals
  • Create program materials. as needed and/or directed by the BCBA

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates effective and professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Education and Experience: 

  • Must be certified as a Registered Behavior Technician
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, plus a minimum of six months prior work experience providing Individual instructions

Evaluation: 

Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with school board policy and administrative procedures for the evaluation of professional personnel.
