Express Maintenance TechnicianREPORTS TO: Service ManagerPOSITION TYPE: Full-time
POSITION SUMMARY:
The express maintenance technician performs basic maintenance and light repairs on customer vehicles. Primary goals are safe, efficient performance of all maintenance and repair tasks as defined in dealership processes and policies.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s license and an insurable driving record
  • Ability to read, speak and write English in order to fulfill job functions in an understandable way
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs basic maintenance and light repairs on customer vehicles
  • Conducts multi point inspections of customer vehicles to identify needed maintenance services and repairs
  • Uses and maintains dealership-provided tools and equipment in proper operating condition
  • Documents inspection findings and maintenance requirements clearly and accurately and communicates them to the line technician
  • Communicates pro-actively with other associates to ensure a smooth, safe flow of work through the shop
  • Quality-checks own work and the work of other technicians as requested
  • Inject grease into units such as, springs, universal joints, and steering knuckles, using hand or compressed-air powered grease gun
  • Inspect fluid levels of steering gear, power steering reservoir, transmission, differential, rear axle housings
  • Follow all required safety and hazardous materials procedures as required by dealership policies and applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA and MIOSHA
  • Check air pressure of tires
  • Lubricate moving parts with specified lubricants
  • Drain oil from crankcase and refill with required amount of oil
  • Add water to radiator and battery
  • Replace oil, coolant, and air filters
  • Top off windshield washer fluid
  • Proper and thorough review of each vehicle per the inspection sheet
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Relating positively and courteously with diverse groups of people (customers, visitors, and staff)
  • All other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to stand for six to nine and a half hours per shift
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and stretch
  • Ability to lift and carry 70 pounds
  • Ability to work in a shop which may experience, but is not limited to conditions such as: varying temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
