Job description

Duties Description 1. Perform data extraction and aggregation from various sources and tables. 2.

Compile, analyze, mine, parse and cleanse data related to agency processes, NYS, or national education, and/or higher education spending, trends, and outcomes. 3. Assist with analyzing and monitoring grants and scholarships spending and trends.

4. Review data for quality assurance. 5.

Identify trends in data and identify risks in programs based on these trends. 6. Devise methods for identifying data patterns and trends in data sources; assess data structures and how they can be used to produce desired reports.

7. Perform quantitative and/or qualitative data collection. 8.

Contribute to the development of dashboards, reports, and publications. 9. Summarize results, interpret data, and communicate results.

10. Compile other ad-hoc data analysis based on current needs and executive management priorities. 11.

Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Non-Competitive Appointment to Data Analyst 1: Six years of experience in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools. Non-Competitive Appointment to Data Analyst Trainee 2: Five years of experience in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.

Non-Competitive Appointment to Data Analyst Trainee 1: Four years of experience in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools. Substitution: An associate's degree may substitute for two years of specialized experience; or a bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; a master's degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, may substitute for five years of specialized experience; a J.D may substitute for six years of specialized experience. Preference may be given to candidates who have: Qualifying experience is preferred when performed in a school, school district, BOCES, education oversight agency, educational institution, education research institution, or other related research institution

It is essential that candidates clearly and concisely indicate exactly how they meet the above minimum qualifications in their resume. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.

Some experience with SAS, SQL, R or Tableau is desired, but not necessary. Strong communication skills and ability to maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders. Experience working with large datasets, confidential data, and relational databases.
