Mercy Springfield is seeking a Part-Time Pharmacy Tech I to join our Pharmacy team during evening and weekend shifts. In this role, you'll work alongside pharmacists and healthcare professionals to help provide safe, accurate, and timely medication services to our patients. What You'll Do

As a Pharmacy Tech I, you will support pharmacy operations while working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with all federal and state regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Entering patient and medication information into EPIC
  • Preparing medications for pharmacist review and dispensing
  • Retrieving, counting, packaging, and labeling medications accurately
  • Assisting with sterile compounding preparation and training, as applicable
  • Filling medication orders and prescriptions in a timely manner
  • Receiving, stocking, and maintaining medication inventory
  • Ensuring medication security and proper storage
  • Delivering medications to patients and nursing units after pharmacist verification
  • Preparing medications for delivery or shipment
  • Processing returned medications and credits when appropriate
  • Conducting patient follow-up calls as needed
  • Following hazardous waste, safety, and quality assurance procedures
  • Monitoring assigned areas for outdated medications
  • Maintaining pharmacy equipment and cleanliness standards
  • Prioritizing tasks based on patient and operational needs
  • Participating in department meetings, huddles, and training activities
  • Assisting with onboarding and training of new coworkers
QualificationsEducation
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
Licensure
  • Active registration, in good standing, with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, or
  • Willingness to obtain registration by the first day of employment, including submission of fingerprints for the required FBI background check
Experience
  • Previous pharmacy experience preferred but not required
Certification
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required within six months of hire
