Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is seeking a Network Operations Center (NOC) System Administrator to join our growing team. As a NOC System Administrator, you will be a critical member of the operations team supporting a Department of Defense program of record. The position will be based in Clearfield, UT. This NOC System Administrator will possess strong core competencies in network monitoring, system administration, and technical troubleshooting across distributed environments. Duties will include monitoring and managing network operations, responding to system alerts, performing system maintenance, and providing first-level technical support for both local and remote enclaves. This individual will play a pivotal role in maintaining system availability, performance, and security posture for mission-critical tactical networks.

Position Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage network operationsoflocal and remote enclaves, ensuring continuous availability andoptimalperformance of all system components
  • Respond to system alerts and alarms,trouble tickets, emails, and phone calls from users, conduct initial triage and escalationtoprovidetimelyresolutionandmaintainsystem availability and performance
  • Coordinate with network,system, andcybersecurityengineersto troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Perform system updates and maintenance on local and remote physical and virtual servers, switches, routers, and workstations according to approved schedules and change control procedures
  • Create,maintain, anddeleteuser accounts in Active Directory and local systems, ensuring proper access controls and adherence to least privilege principles
  • Provide input and feedback to the change control process
  • Participate in periodic documentation reviews in support of ATO review and renewal cycles
  • Monitor system logs and performance metrics toidentifypotential issues before theyimpactoperations
  • Execute backup and recovery procedures, verify backup integrity, and perform restoration testing to ensure business continuity capabilities
  • Support cybersecurity operations by implementing security configurations,monitoring security events, andassistingwith incident response activities
Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Fouror more years of hands-on experience in system administration, network operations, help desk, or IT support roles, ortwo years of experience andadegree inarelated field
  • Certification as required by DoD 8140 for system administration (e.g.Security+,SSCP)
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server and desktop operating systems, including Active Directory user management and Group Policy
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching
  • Understanding of tactical communications systemsandwireless networking
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and remote administration
  • Strongtechnicaltroubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to document issues clearly and interact professionally with users and technical teams
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts including potential evening, weekend, or on-call rotation coverage
  • Must be available to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Currently hold orhave the ability toobtain United States Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor'sor higherdegree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related technical field
  • Additionalcertifications such as Linux+, CCNA, MCSA, or ITIL Foundation
  • Fouror more years of experience working with DoD organizations or defense contractors in IT operations roles
  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, STIGs, and RMF compliance requirements
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V) and virtual machine management
  • Experience with configuration management tools or automation scripting (PowerShell, Python)
  • Familiarity with network monitoring toolsand log aggregation tools(Splunk, PRTG, SolarWinds)
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed or remote network operations

Total compensation for this role can vary from $90,000 to $109,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
