About the Opportunity 

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU].
The position is within Construction & Design Services and reports to the Supervisor or Reporting and Metrics in Program Support within the Construction and Design Services(C&DS) organization.  It can be located throughout the service territory and will be considered an in-office position.

This position will analyze complex business needs related to C&DS project data and answer critical questions with a focus on C&DS key priorities and business initiatives. This position will generate and test hypotheses, create, explore and analyze datasets, develop data pipelines, create & enhance reporting solutions, and build accurate predictive and prescriptive data models to understand trends and produce actionable insights across our business.

Additionally, this position will work across C&DS to understand report and data needs and build solutions to support daily operations and ensure data governance. This position requires expertise in common business intelligence and visualization tools such as Power BI.

The successful candidate will have strong communication and consultation skills to understand business needs across the organization. Ability to translate data into meaningful business models and visuals that utilize internal and external data sources that transform data into information, information into actionable insights and insights into business decisions. The selected candidate should have a strong eye for design and visuals and be willing or experienced to work in an agile methodology.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Understanding of business and technology organizations, resources, priorities, needs, and policies.
  • Forge relationships with C&DS business teams to develop customized business tools, visualizations and predictive and prescriptive models that continuously improve the execution of the capital portfolio.  
  • Ensure appropriate measurement points and values are established. 
  • Collaborate with IT, C&DS Systems, Data Governance and business stakeholders to streamline access and build customized products.
  • Work closely with IT and respective business owners to establish permissions to access other enterprise or domain data for reporting / visualization purposes.
  • Developing predictive and prescriptive models using statistical techniques, software, and machine learning algorithms to forecast future trends and outcomes.
  • Respond to ad-hoc reports/data requests from internal and external sources.

  • Participate in periodic release process regression testing as needed.
  • Build and maintain data models to enable and improve data-driven decision-making.
  • Mine complex data sets to identify patterns and trends.
  •  Advise and consult with C&DS and business stakeholders to review, refine, and improve business processes and practices based on an understanding of data.
  • Support data governance structure and adherence.
  • Help drive the use of data warehouses for insights and predictive analytics.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field with minimum 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Relevant work experience includes business strategy, project / construction management or engineering.  Specific experience in business analytics reporting & visualizations is essential.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in processing, manipulating, and generating insight from large data sets of structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience in the implementation of complex programs and projects.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, predictive modeling techniques, and data mining algorithms is highly valuable.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis to ensure metrics are accurate and meaningful.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
     

    FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location.  In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.

    The estimated pay range for this role is $111,350-$157,200.  The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $133,620 - $188,640.
