Summary
Materion is seeking an experienced Process Engineering Manager to lead and develop our team of thin film coating process engineers. This role will oversee process engineering activities including optical coating design, PVD process maintenance, process improvement, and manufacturing support. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and technical expertise in thin film coating processes, with a proven track record of managing engineering teams to drive operational excellence, cost reduction, and product quality improvements. Additionally, the manager and their team will provide essential operations support by assisting with production planning and scheduling to ensure efficient manufacturing flow. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills across all levels of the organization, and the flexibility to manage competing priorities. The role requires the ability to work independently as well as lead a technical team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
You will have the opportunity to:
  • Oversee process engineering activities including optical coating design analysis, PVD process maintenance, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing process issues.
  • Manage process documentation, including PPAP, FMEA, control plans, run files, and run sheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Establish and monitor key process metrics such as yield, process capability, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Assist Operations by supporting production planning and scheduling to ensure efficient and effective manufacturing flow. Collaborate across other teams.
  • Lead the team of Process Engineers.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and implement process improvements as a technical leader
  • Specify and validate new equipment needs, oversee capital projects, and manage equipment installation and validation.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Engineering and 10+ years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in working at optics companies, preferably through education and/or working at well-known first-class production technology companies.
  • Six-Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental regulations, and labor laws

This position may require the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. Salary range: $119,700- 163,170 *
