General Job Description
Job Summary
The Multi-Trade Assistant Project Manager supports Project Managers and field teams in the successful execution of multifamily construction projects, including apartments, mixed-use developments, senior living communities, renovation projects, and other related construction scopes. This role assists with coordination across multiple trades, which include HVAC, plumbing, and electrical and other subcontracted work.
The Multi-Trade Assistant Project Manager helps manage preconstruction activities, permitting, submittals, procurement, scheduling, budgeting, project documentation, quality control, safety compliance, and project closeout. This position plays an important role in ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards, contract documents, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support Project Managers with daily project coordination, communication, and administrative functions.
  • Assist with preconstruction planning, project startup, permitting, jurisdictional approvals, and trade coordination.
  • Prepare, track, and manage submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation across multiple trades.
  • Coordinate with owners, developers, general contractors, engineers, architects, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel.
  • Track equipment, materials, fixtures, and long-lead items to support project schedules and installation milestones.
  • Assist with project scheduling, manpower coordination, budget tracking, cost control, billing, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Maintain organized project files, meeting minutes, correspondence, contracts, drawings, specifications, and other project records.
  • Support quality control inspections, safety documentation, compliance requirements, and field coordination efforts.
  • Assist with punch list management, startup documentation, commissioning support, warranties, as-built drawings, owner manuals, and project closeout packages.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide timely updates regarding project status, risks, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Help ensure project milestones, deadlines, trade sequencing, and customer expectations are achieved.
  • Communicate project needs, delays, conflicts, and changes to the Project Manager in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in construction, mechanical contracting, project coordination, project administration, or multi-trade construction support.
  • Multifamily construction experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, trade coordination, permitting, submittals, RFIs, procurement, change orders, scheduling, and project documentation.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related building systems preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Autodesk Build, or other construction management software preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, priorities, and trade-related tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and project documents.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment screening such as background check and MVR.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Work is performed in both office settings and active multifamily construction environments.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs for extended periods.
  • Ability to navigate unfinished buildings, mechanical rooms, rooftops, ladders, and active construction sites safely.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, construction noise, dust, and moving equipment during site visits.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, reflective vests, gloves, and work boots.
  • Ability to review plans, specifications, schedules, and electronic documents for extended periods.
  • May require occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work to support project schedules and deadlines.
