Job description

NS2 is seeking an experienced Software Tester to support the development and delivery of mission-critical applications within the Intelligence Community. The ideal candidate will help ensure software quality through structured testing, defect identification, and collaboration with development teams throughout the software development lifecycle. This role will be supporting our team in the Northern VA area.

The Tester is responsible for validating software functionality, documenting test results, and helping maintain high standards of quality across new development and system enhancements. Experience with automated testing tools is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test procedures.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing on software applications.
  • Identify, document, track, and verify software defects through resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with software developers, systems engineers, and stakeholders to validate requirements and ensure product quality.
  • Participate in design reviews, requirement reviews, and software release activities.
  • Evaluate software against functional and technical requirements to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Document testing results and provide clear reporting on software readiness.
  • Support continuous improvement of testing processes and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) activities as needed.
  • Contribute throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience performing software testing in a structured development environment.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Experience creating and executing test plans, test cases, and documenting test results.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automated testing tools or automation testing frameworks.
