Work Shift:

8hr-1st Shift (United States of America)As a Process Technician, you will be responsible for performing mold and tooling changes on extrusion blow molding equipment, starting up and processing production lines, and ensuring bottles meet all quality specifications prior to releasing the machine to production. This position serves as the technical expert on the production floor and is responsible for optimizing machine performance, troubleshooting processing issues, and maintaining efficient, stable operation of the blow molding process. The Process Technician works closely with Quality, Production, and Maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform mold, neck tooling, blow pin, and related tooling changeovers on extrusion blow molding equipment.
  • Start up newly changed molds and process the machine until bottles meet all quality and production specifications.
  • Obtain Quality approval on new setups before releasing the machine to production.
  • Establish and optimize processing parameters including temperatures, die gaps, parison programming, shot size, cooling settings, and machine timing.
  • Monitor bottle quality and make adjustments to achieve target wall thickness, weight, appearance, and performance specifications.
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues such as parison instability, wall thickness variation, flash defects, short shots, surging, excessive moil, poor neck finish, bottle warpage, and cooling issues.
  • Diagnose whether quality concerns are related to processing conditions, mold/tooling conditions, machine settings, or equipment performance.
  • Adjust die centering, die gaps, pressure rings, and parison programming to improve bottle quality and maintain process stability.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize parison profiles to improve wall distribution and reduce scrap.
  • Identify worn tooling or machine components that negatively impact product quality, including blow pins, pinch-offs, screws, barrels, valves, and hydraulic components.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and machine control issues affecting production performance.
  • Review alarms and machine diagnostics to identify and resolve processing and equipment-related issues.
  • Partner with Maintenance to communicate equipment issues requiring repair or corrective action.
  • Train and support operators on proper machine operation, process monitoring, and quality expectations after line startup.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience processing extrusion blow molding equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing mold and tooling changeovers.
  • Strong understanding of extrusion blow molding principles, machine setup, and process optimization.
  • Experience troubleshooting bottle quality defects and process deviations.
  • Ability to establish machine parameters and process new jobs from startup through production release.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret quality specifications and process documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred

  • Experience with Uniloy, Bekum, Rocheleau, or similar extrusion blow molding equipment.
  • Experience with Moog or servo parison programmers.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic systems, proportional valves, pumps, cylinders, and related equipment.
  • Experience with machine controls, alarm diagnostics, sensors, encoders, and process control systems.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, efficiency improvements, and process optimization.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience a plus.
  • Forklift certification a plus.
