Job description

Lead IT & Audio Visual Installation Technician

Elite Pro Technology is hiring a Lead IT & Audio Visual Installation Technician to own field execution on technology installation projects.

This is a hands-on lead role for someone who takes pride in doing clean, accurate work. We are looking for a steady professional who understands that good installation work is not just about getting equipment mounted or cables pulled. It is about craftsmanship, planning, communication, presentation, documentation, and leaving behind a system that works correctly the first time.

The right person for this role can walk into a jobsite meeting, communicate clearly with a general contractor, customer, superintendent, or other trade, and represent the company with confidence and professionalism. You do not need constant supervision to know what quality looks like.

What You Will Do

You will lead installation work across IT, low-voltage, structured cabling, and audio visual systems. Typical work may include:

  • Leading on-site installation of cabling, racks, mounting hardware, AV equipment, network hardware, displays, cameras, access control, and related technology systems
  • Reading drawings, plans, scopes, and job notes to understand what needs to happen before work begins
  • Breaking projects into clear tasks and keeping yourself or a small crew moving efficiently
  • Installing, terminating, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting copper, coax, fiber, and AV cabling
  • Mounting displays, speakers, cameras, racks, pathways, cable supports, and related hardware cleanly and safely
  • Certifying or testing cabling and producing accurate closeout documentation
  • Working with dispatch to ensure resources and materials are allocated to complete jobs
  • Identifying missing materials, scope gaps, or jobsite conflicts early enough to avoid unnecessary delays
  • Communicating professionally with customers, project managers, general contractors, supers, and other trades
  • Keeping jobs organized, clean, safe, and presentable
  • Helping ensure the completed project reflects well on Elite Pro Technology

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means your work is reliable, clean, and finished correctly.

A strong technician in this position will:

  • Complete projects with a low number of return visits or callbacks
  • Catch problems before the customer does
  • Keep job sites organized and professional
  • Communicate clearly when materials, access, drawings, or decisions are needed
  • Document work accurately so the next technician can understand what was done
  • Maintain high standards without needing to be micromanaged
  • Lead other installers calmly and clearly
  • Represent the company well in front of customers and construction teams

We value people who are thoughtful, precise, and consistent. Speed matters, but not at the expense of quality.

Required Experience

Qualified candidates should have experience in some or all of the following:

  • Structured cabling installation
  • Commercial low-voltage work
  • Audio visual system installation
  • Network hardware installation
  • Equipment rack buildout
  • Cable pathway, ladder rack, basket tray, conduit, J-hooks, and support systems
  • Device mounting and finish-out work
  • Cable testing, labeling, and troubleshooting
  • Reading construction drawings or low-voltage plans
  • Working safely with ladders, lifts, hand tools, and power tools
  • Communicating professionally on active jobsites

Highly Desired Certifications

These are not strictly required, but they are strongly preferred:

  • CTS
  • CTS-I
  • BICSI
  • BICSI Installer 2
  • BICSI Technician
  • Fiber, network, AV, or manufacturer-specific certifications

Certification matters because this is a lead role. We need someone who understands standards and can routinely deliver with excellence. Key pay drivers include hands-on AV systems and network integration experience, vendor certifications (e.g., CTS, BICSI, A+, Basic Networking, Rigging), ability to run and lead multi-trade teams, and the size/complexity of deployment responsibility.

The Person Who Fits This Role

You will likely do well here if you are:

  • steady and dependable
  • detail-oriented
  • accurate
  • organized
  • professional in front of customers
  • careful with tools, materials, and finished spaces
  • comfortable taking ownership of the outcome
  • able to lead without being loud or chaotic
  • serious about craftsmanship
  • willing to document your work
  • able to solve field problems without turning every issue into a crisis

You probably will not enjoy this role if you cut corners, dislike documentation, need constant reminders, leave messy work behind, or think “good enough” is good enough.

Physical and Jobsite Requirements

This is an active field position. The role may require:

  • standing and walking for extended periods
  • climbing ladders
  • working from lifts
  • working at elevation
  • lifting and moving tools, boxes, wire, hardware, and equipment
  • working in commercial construction, remodel, finished office, church, residential, warehouse, and industrial environments
  • distinguishing color-coded cabling
  • using hand tools and power tools safely

Reasonable accommodations will be considered where appropriate.

Why Work With Elite Pro Technology

Elite Pro Technology works on a wide range of technology projects, including IT infrastructure, audio visual systems, networks, cameras, access control, structured cabling, and other integrated systems. We are not looking for someone who wants to disappear into a large company and be treated like a number. We are looking for someone who wants their work to matter. Our customers expect professional, thoughtful, high-quality work. We want technicians who are proud to deliver that.

If you are a skilled installation professional who values craftsmanship, accuracy, and representing yourself well in the field, we would like to talk with you.
