Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Gather samples of elevated-temperature materials (primarily asphalt).
  • Use a variety of manual and power tools in a safe manner.
  • Operate forklift, tractor, or man-lift.
  • Visually gauge tanks to verify automatic systems.
  • Perform general plant cleaning.
  • Perform maintenance tasks and mechanical duties (pumps, valves, oil checks, etc.).
  • Open and close valves for purposes of production and product (HazMat) transfer to tanks, trucks, railcars, and barges.
  • Perform liquid asphalt transfers from tank to tank via valve pumps that must be operated.
  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely and correct manner.
  • Use basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to calculate correct volumes for mixing and transferring records.
  • Must have good basic mechanical skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate and coordinate with team members in a high pace energetic work environment. Safety and Compliance are key, and this position requires a commitment to following our training and all regulations.
  • Able to work different shifts and maintain flexible work schedules depending upon demand from the customers.
  • Character and being a good teammate and hard worker are essential, we have caring and dynamic teams.

Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to pass a Federal background check per Homeland Security to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to obtain a 24-hour Hazwopper Certification.
  • Training is not required, specific training is provided.
  • Must be able to work in elevated-height areas accessible only by stairs or ladders.
  • Must be able to perform basic math functions.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to understanding and complying with all Federal, State, Local and Company regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Strenuous physical activity is involved.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Compensation:
  • $20 +/hour - pay rate will be commensurate with experience

Physical/Mental Requirements:
• Normal concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort.
• Normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information.
• Normal complexity of decision-making.
• Normal physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job taking distance and speed into account.
• Normal physical strength to handle routine field operations.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
• Must be able to work out of doors in extreme weather and perform heavy physical labor in a safe manner.
• Work indoors and outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment.
• Work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment.
