PLC Programmer – Allen-Bradley

Location: Chicago, IL
Start Date: September 2026

Seeking an experienced PLC Programmer with strong Allen-Bradley expertise to support a Detroit-area industrial automation team focused on automated production systems, turnkey manufacturing lines, robot integration, and industrial automation for automotive OEMs.

This role is ideal for a controls professional with hands-on experience programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting complex automation equipment used in automotive manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC programming for automated production equipment and manufacturing systems.
  • Program and support Rockwell Automation platforms using Studio 5000 and/or RSLogix 5000.
  • Support controls development for turnkey manufacturing lines and integrated automation systems.
  • Perform PLC troubleshooting, debugging, testing, validation, and commissioning.
  • Support robot integration and communication between PLC-controlled equipment, robotic systems, and peripheral devices.
  • Program and troubleshoot HMI systems, sensors, drives, industrial networks, and related automation hardware.
  • Participate in machine startup, equipment installation, system integration, and production launch activities.
  • Diagnose electrical and controls-related issues to improve equipment uptime and manufacturing performance.
  • Review and modify PLC logic, including ladder logic, sequences, alarms, safety interlocks, and machine controls.
  • Collaborate with controls, robotics, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and production teams.
  • Support automation projects serving automotive OEM manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain controls documentation, software backups, and program revisions.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience as a PLC Programmer, Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer, Controls Technician, or similar controls professional.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Rockwell Automation systems.
  • Experience using Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, and ladder logic programming.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial automation, automated production systems, and machine controls.
  • Familiarity with robotic automation and robot integration in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with HMI programming, industrial networks, sensors, motors, servos, or variable frequency drives is preferred.
  • Experience supporting automotive manufacturing, automotive OEMs, or high-volume automated production environments is preferred.
  • Experience with system integration, machine commissioning, and production startup activities.
  • Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Chicago, IL.
  • Available to begin in September 2026.
