Job description

Description:

Essential Job Functions for a Portable (traveling) Heavy Equipment Operator III

Location: Northern Arizona, with travel to parts of Nevada as needed.

About the Role

We are hiring two Traveling Heavy Equipment Loader Operators to join our portable rock crushing and screening crew. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment, primarily front-end loaders, to support our crushing plant operations. You'll report directly to the Portable Plant Foreman and play a key role in achieving production targets. We are looking for individuals with a strong commitment to safety, a good work ethic, and a desire to be part of a high-performing team.

This is a hands-on position that requires adaptability and a strong team-player mindset. Candidates must be willing to assist the team with a variety of tasks beyond operating heavy equipment. If you are unwilling to pick up a shovel, help unclog the crusher, assist with screen changes, or take on other non-operator roles as needed, this position is not for you. A willingness to get out of the cab and support the crew is essential to our success.

Core Duties

  • Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate a front-end loader to move and manage materials. This includes feeding the crushing plant, managing stockpiles, and loading trucks with finished products.
  • Material Handling: Ensure the proper flow of material into the crushing and screening plant. Manage stockpiles to maintain proper segregation of different rock types and sizes.
  • Maintenance and Inspection: Perform routine pre-shift and post-shift inspections of your assigned equipment. Identify and report any mechanical problems or maintenance needs to the foreman.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company and MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) safety regulations and procedures. Participate in safety meetings and promote a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with the plant foreman and other crew members to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Communicate effectively to coordinate tasks and maintain a productive workflow.
  • Site Cleanup: Assist with general site preparation and cleanup, ensuring a clean and organized work area around the plant and stockpiles.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Ability to work in a noisy and dusty environment.

This position is ideal for experienced heavy equipment operators who are also dedicated team players. If you are a reliable, safety-focused individual with experience operating front-end loaders and a willingness to contribute to all aspects of our portable rock crushing operations, we encourage you to apply. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and be an essential part of a traveling crew.

Requirements:

A highly skilled and experienced Operator to expertly operate and maintain heavy quarry equipment, contribute to plant efficiency, and demonstrate leadership qualities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment, with a focus on front-end loaders.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures (MSHA).
  • Rock crushing experience is a must.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must have a valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as required.
  • Willingness to travel as production requirements dictate.

Key Focus:

  • Expert-level operation and maintenance skills.
  • Driving plant efficiency and minimizing downtime.
  • Demonstrating safety leadership and promoting safe work practices.
  • Mentoring and training less experienced operators.
