  • Provide actionable feedback loops between audience data and coverage decisions to improve on-platform and off-platform offerings
  • Collaborate closely with editors, producers, and reporters to translate complex or fast-moving news stories into compelling social narratives
  • Maintain exceptional news judgment under pressure, particularly during breaking news and major live events

Qualifications and Experience...
  • 6+ years of social media and audience experience at a major news organization
  • Proven experience leading or shaping social coverage for breaking news, enterprise reporting, and major live events
  • Deep understanding of user behavior, platform algorithms, and best practices across major social platforms
  • A strong track record of writing sharp, accurate, and engaging copy tailored for different audiences and platforms
  • Direct management experience, including responsibility for assigning work, editing output and developing team members
  • Exceptional communication skills for representing the Audience team across CNN
  • Experience producing and editing social-first visuals, video, and multimedia content
  • Fluency in analytics and the ability to translate data into editorial and strategic action
  • Experience using Figma, Adobe Photoshop and post-production video tools such as Premiere Pro
  • Exceptional editing skills, attention to detail, and ability to make confident editorial decisions independently
