Job Summary
 

Pharmacist – Registry (PRN) Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and dependable Registry Pharmacist to join our inpatient pharmacy team on a PRN (as-needed) basis.

This position is intended to fill coverage needs following a recent pharmacist resignation, helping to maintain consistent operations across central pharmacy and clinical workflows. The ideal candidate will bring prior hospital experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to adapt quickly to different areas of practice. This role is best suited for pharmacists who want to stay active in a clinical environment while maintaining scheduling flexibility.

Key Responsibilities: Medication Order Verification & Dispensing: Review, verify, and dispense medications in accordance with hospital protocols and safety standards. Utilize the electronic medical record system (EPIC) and automated dispensing systems (e.g., Omnicell) to support accurate and timely medication distribution.

Clinical Collaboration: Provide support to nursing and medical staff with medication-related inquiries. Perform basic clinical pharmacy functions such as renal dose adjustments and formulary reviews. Operational Support: Oversee and support pharmacy technicians with daily workflow. Assist in maintaining compliance with all applicable hospital, state, and federal pharmacy regulations.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited program. Active Illinois Pharmacist License in good standing. Minimum 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience (preferred).

Schedule Requirements: Must be available to work at least 6 shifts per 6-week schedule period. Shift availability includes weekends, holidays, PTO coverage, and staff absences. The schedule will vary based on department needs and shift availability.

MINIMUM Education:

  • Graduate of a college of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical

Education (ACPE).  Doctor of Pharmacy and hospital pharmacy residency preferred.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • One year of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Excellent drug knowledge base including pharmacokinetics, dosing and nutritional support.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

REQUIRED LICENSES, Certificates, Registrations:

  • Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Illinois.
