Familiarity with pet care apps, booking platforms, and sometimes pet first aid certification is beneficial. Weekend pet sitters often encounter challenges such as managing multiple clients’ schedules, adapting to different pets’ routines, and handling unexpected situations like pet illness or behavioral issues. Building relationships with local veterinarians and having a reliable way to reach owners in emergencies can also help ensure a smooth weekend experience.

What is weekend pet sitting?

Weekend pet sitting is a service where a professional or responsible individual cares for pets in their owner's absence, specifically over the weekend. This may include feeding, walking, playing, administering medication, and providing companionship to pets at the owner's home or at the sitter's location. Weekend pet sitters ensure the pets’ needs are met and they remain happy and healthy while their owners are away. This service is a great alternative to boarding, as it allows pets to stay in a familiar environment and maintain their usual routines.
