Job description

Statement:

Looking for a role that fits your lifestyle? Join Keolis in Milton, ON, as a part-time on-demand Transit Bus Driver!ย 

Wage

Starting at $25.74 per hour and increasing to $28.29 after one year

This is a union role classified as part-time, but requiring full availability. The guarantee is 50 hours biweekly as per the CBA (clause 14.02.).ย 

Knowledge and Experience:

Valid class BZ driverโ€™s license with a demonstrated record of safe and responsible driving over the past 5 years (driverโ€™s abstract and CVOR will be requested)
Significant skills dealing effectively with the public, including demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, problem solving, and sound decision-making in positions providing customer service
Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to communicate effectively with the traveling public and to report on incidents involving safety and/or service
No criminal convictions or pending charges relating directly to the Operator position
A good knowledge of Milton and area is an asset
Willingness to participate in a comprehensive recruitment process which consists of interviews, trainability session, medical examination (as required for licensing), drug and alcohol screening, criminal record and reference checks

Must be comfortable helping those with mobility issues out, and to lift 50lbs at shoulder height.ย

Key Accountabilities: ย 

Customer Transportation:

Transport customers using custom access / on-demand requests, in accordance with Municipal and Company policies, observing all traffic laws and safety rules and adhering to time schedules
Courteously and professionally interact with customers
Load mobility devices and escort customers to and from curbside as required
Make general announcements to customers
Issue transfers
Collect correct fares and ensure valid passes are presented

Reporting and Emergency Procedures

Complete a variety of vehicle and incident reports as required
Carry out emergency/accident procedures when required
Answer inquiries en route
