Job description

Summary: Drives packer-type truck, dump truck, or other designated vehicle to collect, transport and dump refuse, recyclable and other materials.
Work Hours: This position will work a designated schedule established by the Department Head. Typical work hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. It is also expected this position will work other hours including nights, weekends and/or holidays as necessary or requested in order to fulfill the City's vision and/or to accomplish departmental goals.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, applicants should be able to perform each essential duty in an efficient, effective and safe manner. The duties listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
Essential Duties: Include, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Drives collection vehicle with Route Laborers on assigned route to pick up and load refuse and recyclable cans, bins, bags and other discarded items materials.
Transports and dumps refuse, recyclable and other collected materials at City landfill or other designated disposal site.
Picks up refuse and recyclable cans, bins, bags and other discarded items on assigned collection route and dumps into refuse packer, garbage truck or other designated collection vehicle as needed and/or requested.
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Previous experience performing similar duties desired.
License(s)/Certification(s): Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License required. Endorsements are preferred, but not required.
