Job description

About Southside Blooms:

Southside Blooms is a nonprofit flower shop that creates jobs for at-risk youth by converting vacant lots into urban flower farms. Through sustainable farming, community empowerment, and creative design, we’re bringing beauty, purpose, and opportunity back to under-served communities.

Position Summary:

The Events & Strike Team Member is a hands-on, reliable, and detail-oriented team player who supports the planning, setup, execution, and breakdown ("strike") of events such as weddings, corporate gatherings, markets, and community activities. This role requires a strong work ethic, flexible hours including overnights and weekends, and a valid driver’s license for transporting materials, flowers, and team members as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with event logistics including packing, transporting, setting up, and striking floral installations, displays, and materials.

Ensure timely, professional, and efficient event execution according to established timelines and quality standards.

Operate company vehicles to transport flowers, supplies, and team members to and from event sites (must have valid driver’s license).

Support on-site floral designers and coordinators with tasks during events.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces, event materials, and vehicles.

Represent Southside Blooms with professionalism and courtesy at all times when interfacing with clients, vendors, and community members. This includes adhering to dress code and conduct policies.

Assist in managing inventory after events.

Qualifications:

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required).

Ability to work overnights and weekends, with flexibility for varying event schedules.

Comfortable with physical work including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working indoors/outdoors.

Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and a proactive attitude.

Experience in events, floral work, or logistics is a plus but not required.

Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Passion for community development and alignment with Southside Blooms' mission.

What We Offer:

A meaningful role in a mission-driven organization transforming communities.

Dynamic, supportive, and inclusive work environment.

Competitive pay based on event size
