POSITION OVERVIEW
The Youth Counselor is a key member of the AWA Broward program team at Deerfield Beach Elementary School, responsible for the direct supervision, daily care, and active engagement of an assigned student group throughout all afterschool program activities. • Support nutrition education and healthy habits during snack and mealtimes

Attendance, Student Support & Family Communication
  • Take accurate attendance and maintain up-to-date student tracking records
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students through encouraging, inclusive engagement
  • Support students practicing SEL/PATHS skills - self-regulation, conflict resolution, and teamwork
  • Greet families warmly at arrival and dismissal as a positive representative of FLIPANY
  • Support students with IEPs, learning differences, or additional needs so every child can fully participate

Administrative & Compliance
  • Keep required personnel documents current and on file
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development (min. 2.5 hrs/quarter), and orientations
  • Know and follow site emergency procedures, including fire, lockdown, and evacuation drills

WHAT YOU BRING
