Senior Manufacturing Engineer โ€“ Precision Optics

We're supporting a growing precision optics manufacturer that supplies high-performance optical components into demanding industrial, scientific, defence and advanced technology applications.


As part of continued investment in manufacturing capability, the business is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvement, production efficiency and manufacturing innovation across its optical fabrication operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across precision optics manufacturing processes.
  • Optimise grinding, polishing, edging and finishing operations to improve yield, quality and throughput.
  • Develop and implement robust manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  • Support root cause analysis, process validation and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with production, quality and engineering teams to introduce new technologies and best practices.
  • Drive manufacturing process innovation through automation, tooling improvements and data-driven decision making.


Ideal Background:

  • Experience within precision optics, photonics, advanced materials, semiconductor, aerospace or similarly high-precision manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of grinding, polishing and precision fabrication processes.
  • Proven track record of process improvement, lean manufacturing and production optimisation.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent technical background preferred.
