Job description

Position Summary for RN:

Functions as a staff nurse under the guidance and supervision of an experienced R.N. Performs routine patient care assignments and carries out established nursing procedures utilizing the nursing process.

Position Summary for LVN:

The LVN scope of practice is a directed scope of practice and requires appropriate supervision.  The LVN functions within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Medical Center Health System.  The LVN is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and focused nursing care to assigned patients with predictable health needs.

Education:

Hold a current Texas license as a Registered Nurse ( BSN preferred) or holds a current Texas license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.

Training and Experience:

1. Minimum 2 years recent experience as a Registered Nurse or LVN in an acute care setting.  

2. Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association upon hire or transfer to department.

 Medical/Surgical/Telemetry

  Post-Partum/4E 

· Neonate Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire or transfer or upon addition of unit to profile.

· STABLE course within 6 months of hire or transfer or upon addition of unit to profile.

 L&D will accept RNs only

· Neonate Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire or transfer or upon addition of unit to profile.

 Neonatal ICU

· Neonate Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire addition of unit to profile.

· STABLE course within 6 months of hire or transfer or upon addition of unit to profile.

 Pediatrics/5W

· Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire or transfer or upon addition of unit to profile.

 Critical Care-ICU2 & ICU4 will accept only RNs

· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire or transfer or upon addition of unit to profile.

· TCAR or TNCC within 12 months of hire or transfer or upon addition of unit to profile.

 Emergency Department

· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire or transfer or upon addition of unit to profile.

· TNCC within 18 months of hire or transfer or upon addition of unit to profile.

· Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association within 12 months of hire or transfer or upon addition of unit to profile.
