Location: Rapid City, SD, 57701
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: August 3, 2025
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Shift Schedule:

Night shift only, 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts)

3 consecutive shifts per week

Weekend call rotation every 3 weeks
On-Call: Night RN - No 11 PM - 7 AM call required; weekday call 11 PM - 7 AM about every 2-3 weeks for others
Weekend Requirements: Rotating weekend call every 3 weeks

Pay Details
Rate: Local $63/hour = Gross weekly $2268 and Travelers $35/hour on W2 and $1200/36 hours (Per Diem)= Gross weekly $2460

Job Description
As a Registered Nurse in the PACU at Rapid City Hospital, you will provide critical care to patients recovering from anesthesia across PreOp, PACU, and Phase II units. Your responsibilities include:

  • Caring for infants through geriatric patients (primarily adults) recovering from surgery
  • Managing patients on ventilators, hemodynamic drips, and other critical care equipment
  • Preparing and discharging Endoscopy patients (no intraoperative Endo work)
  • IV insertion, epidural/PCA set-up, blood transfusions, and moderate sedation monitoring
  • Providing care with a strong focus on critical thinking and multi-tasking
  • Supporting unit workflow alongside CNAs, charge nurses, and clinical resources
  • Using EPIC electronic charting and Omnicell medication systems

Requirements

Licensure/Certification:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license approved by South Dakota Board of Nursing
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required

Experience:

  • Minimum 1.5 years RN experience required
  • Must have Critical Care/ICU experience including ventilator and hemodynamic drip management
  • No first-time travelers accepted

Education:

Completion of an approved nursing education program
