Employment Options:
  • Full-Time (1.0 FTE): Social Studies Teacher (0.6 FTE) and Activities Coordinator (0.4 FTE)
  • Part-Time (0.6 FTE): Social Studies Teacher only
  • Part-Time (0.4 FTE): Activities Coordinator only

This recruitment may be filled as a combined full-time position or as either individual part-time assignment, depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant(s).
Job Summary:
Social Studies Teacher (0.6 FTE):
  • Instructs students in the appropriate district curriculum, creates a positive and effective learning environment for all students, and provides strong academic, social, physical and emotional growth for all students.

Activities Coordinator (0.4 FTE):
  • The school activities coordinator plans, organizes, schedules, and supervises all school-sponsored student activities, including, but not limited to, athletics, student government, drama, music, newspaper, and related public activities associated with assigned school programs and physical facilities.

Retirement: State of Alaska TRS
Bargaining Unit: Fairbanks Education Association (FEA)
Salary: Determined by the FEA Negotiated Agreement
Contract Length: Minimum of 184 days
Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job descriptions for qualifications and duties of the position):
Applicants interested in being considered for the combined full-time (1.0 FTE) position must meet the minimum qualifications for both assignments.
Social Studies Teacher (0.6 FTE):
  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Must possess or be eligible for a valid Alaska Initial, Professional, or Master certificate with an endorsement in social studies
  3. Meet all state and federal requirements in order to be qualified in required content area

Activities Coordinator (0.4 FTE):
  1. Bachelor's degree in a related field
  2. Must possess or be eligible for a valid Alaska teaching certificate.
  3. Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in activities coordination or related experience.
  4. Must possess strong interpersonal skills, computer literacy skills, and demonstrated skills related to detail and organization. Familiarity with computer programs, including, but not limited to, scheduling, word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and internet access software.
  5. Must possess a thorough knowledge of district athletic and activities programs and local and regional sports organization rules and regulations, including ASAA and Region VI rules, regulations, and policies.
  6. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.
  7. Must be able to interpret and effectively implement instructions furnished in written oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  8. Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple assignments effectively.
