Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Security Sergeant, On-Call Security Officers provide protection of work sites, personnel, and assets from events such as trespassing, unauthorized entry, and other disruptive incidents. Performing access control is a core function of this position.

On-Call Security Officers typically work a 12-hour shift with a varying schedule based upon contracted staffing requirements. This position may work up to 40+ hours/week to include additional overtime pay. To be considered, candidates must have open availability to work varied shifts (at times on short notice) and maintain good attendance.

* Applicable licensing and fingerprinting fees will be paid by the employer.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) or able to obtain
  • State of Washington Security Officer license or able to obtain
  • Ability to speak, write, and comprehend the English language and apply written and verbal policies/procedures.
  • This position requires open availability for days, nights, weekends, or holidays due to a rotating schedule.
  • Reliable access to a smartphone capable of running apps for scheduling, timekeeping (clocking in/out), shift communications, and time-off requests.
  • This position has been designated as safety-sensitive. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, criminal background check, and post-offer basic physical.

PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Minimum of two years working in law enforcement or fire service (paid or volunteer), military police, corrections, or a private security company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct vehicle and foot patrols, or at a stationary guard post.
  • Guard property against damage, theft, and illegal or unauthorized entry.
  • Perform searches of personnel, vehicles, buildings, and other areas as required.
  • Comply with company/client safety and risk management policies and procedures at all times.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle during both day and night, and in a variety of settings and environments under varying weather conditions.
  • Investigate suspicious persons, assess intentions, and take action as appropriate.
  • Report results of investigations in written form clearly and accurately.
  • Effectively and coherently communicate over two-way radio and phone.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally while interacting with people.
  • Maintain composure and control during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge and use of computers (Microsoft Office applications).
  • Ability to work safely at all times while maintaining a constant state of alertness and situational awareness.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, and safety hazards in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information

PAY

This position starts at $20.66/hour, plus additional for all overtime hours.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Officers will be working in and around an oil refinery, sitting or standing for extended periods either indoors or in inclement weather, and operating a company vehicle. Applicant will be required to successfully complete a post offer, pre-hire physical.
