Job description

Job Title: Field Service Technician IV
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Field Services
Group: Regular - Full Time
Location: Houston, TX
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all technical areas of Field Services customer support.
  • Provide technical and mechanical services support to internal and external customers in various settings.
  • Demonstrate expertise in conflict resolution, advanced problem-solving, and proficient diagnostics such as vibrations and emissions.
  • Utilize advanced leadership and communication skills to lead all startup and commissioning tasks effectively.
  • Serve as a Reciprocating Compression Products Subject Matter Expert (SME) and proficiently perform engine and compressor diagnostics.
  • Present diagnostic results professionally to customers.
  • Lead or perform all startup and commissioning tasks as required.
  • Must be familiar with GE Startup & Commissioning Standards and have the ability to start and operate the package.
  • Travel extensively and work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Perform physical tasks such as ascending/descending ladders, moving heavy boxes, and working in outdoor conditions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Reciprocating Compression.

  • Meets all sublevel (FS Technician I, II & III) requirements.

  • Clear, concise, and accurate service reporting is required.

  • Education - Complete training for the following:

  • Associates Degree with a technical concentration (Bachelor's Degree recommended) or equivalent work experience.

  • Formal training in a technical certificate program.

  • Technical training in the oil and gas industry or associated industry.

  • Mastery of core competencies, advanced special tooling, engine & compressor theory, OEM and Non-OEM, etc.

  • Advanced proficiency in computer skills, including Word & Excel.

  • Mastery of product documentation, engineering standards, blueprints, drawings, schematics, etc.

  • Mastery of advanced leadership skills and engine balancing techniques.

  • Ability to multitask successfully and adapt quickly to changing needs.

  • Mature with the ability to take and provide direction on the fly.

  • Professional administrative and organizational skills.
