Job Description - Occupational Therapist- Outpatient Occupational Therapy (2601897)

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Occupational Therapist is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Brief Description of Duties
  • Plan and provide occupational therapy treatment programs for each inpatient and outpatient, including the evaluation, treatment or prevention of disability, injury, disease or other health conditions.
  • Fabricate and modify patient splints, including design, assessment and monitoring of splints and other orthotic devices.
  • Perform activities of daily living, directing and aiding patients in tasks such as transfer training, bed mobility, hygiene, grooming, dressing, and self‑feeding.
  • Direct and train patients in the care and use of UE prosthetics, orthotic devices, and assistive and adaptive equipment to restore, reinforce and enhance performance.
  • Consult with other members of the health‑care team, including physicians, concerning goals and treatment plans.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Note: Candidate must be amenable to providing coverage at 3 OT sites as well as participate in weekend and holiday rotation as needed.

Anticipated Schedule: M/Th 11:30am – 7:30pm, T 9am–5pm, W 8am–4pm, F 9:30am–5:30pm

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • NYS License or eligibility to obtain within one year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist in acute care and outpatient settings.

Verification: Verification of degree (e.g., diploma or official transcript) is required. Upload of documentation must be included with your application for consideration.

Pre‑Employment Requirements
  • Successfully complete a pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
  • Complete an electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen.
  • Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Benefits

Salary Range: $90,515 – $114,795 Base.

Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as: Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full‑time positions ($4,000).
