AI is a tool that can automate certain coding tasks, but it is unlikely to fully replace software engineers, especially new grads, who bring problem-solving, creativity, and adaptability to development. AI can assist engineers by increasing productivity and handling repetitive tasks, but human skills remain essential for innovation and complex decision-making.

While most entry-level or weekend new grad software engineers earn significantly less than $500,000 annually, senior software engineers with extensive experience, specialized skills, and working in high-paying industries or companies can reach or exceed this level through base salary, bonuses, and stock options. Achieving such compensation typically requires years of experience, advanced technical skills, and often working in roles with high responsibility or in competitive markets.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

Highly experienced software engineers, especially those in senior or specialized roles at large tech companies, can earn $500,000 or more annually through base salary, bonuses, and stock options. Achieving this level typically requires advanced skills, extensive experience, and often working in high-cost-of-living regions or at companies with lucrative compensation packages.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Job description

Chief Engineer - Be the Backbone of Our Hotel!
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive salary + performance bonuses + benefits

Keep It Running. Keep It Safe. Keep It Awesome.

We're looking for a Chief Engineer who's not just good with tools-but great with people, passionate about property upkeep, and ready to lead a small but mighty team that keeps our hotel in top shape.

Whether it's a busted A/C, a flickering hallway light, or a major systems upgrade-you'll be the go-to pro making sure our guests feel comfortable, safe, and impressed by how smooth everything runs behind the scenes.

If you love solving problems, building systems, and working with your hands and your head, this is your chance to take charge and shine.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead all maintenance operations - HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pool systems, and general repairs across the property.
  • Work hands-on - You're not stuck in an office. You'll be on the move, diagnosing and fixing issues daily.
  • Manage a team - Train, supervise, and support maintenance staff to keep quality and safety top-notch.
  • Stay ahead of issues - Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and keep detailed records.
  • Coordinate with leadership - Work closely with the GM and department heads to support hotel operations and guest satisfaction.
  • Handle vendors and compliance - From service calls to safety codes, you'll make sure everything's up to standard.

Why You'll Love Working Here:

  • You run the show - You'll lead maintenance YOUR way and be trusted to get the job done right.
  • Hands-on leadership - No micromanaging. Just real impact and real recognition.
  • Tools, training, and tech - We support you with what you need to succeed.
  • Great team vibes - Work in a place where everyone respects what you do (because we can't run without you!).
  • Room to grow - Opportunities to advance within property operations and ownership-managed roles.

You're the Right Fit If You:

  • Have 3+ years of hotel/hospitality maintenance experience, with leadership responsibilities
  • Know your way around HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
  • Are comfortable managing vendors and inspections, and staying compliant with codes
  • Can lead a team and stay calm under pressure-even during the occasional "surprise"
  • Are physically able to lift, climb, crouch, and move around the property with ease
  • Are available for on-call duties and emergencies when needed

Take Charge of What Keeps Us Running

This is more than a maintenance job-it's a leadership role at the heart of our hotel. If you're looking for a role where you can be proud of your work every single day, apply now and join a team that truly values what you do.

Let's build something great-together.
