Job description

The Department of Neurology at The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson in collaboration with Banner - University Medicine Tucson is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant to be part of a dynamic team providing inpatient care in the Neurocritical Care Unit at Banner University Medical Center Tucson (BUMCT). BUMCT is a Joint Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level I Trauma Center. The ideal candidate will have prior inpatient and acute care experience, but the position is open to those without such experience as on-the-job training is encouraged and expected. Prior neuroscience or critical care background and exposure are preferred as are candidates who appreciate a team-based approach to caring for patients requiring critical care.
As an APP, this position is involved in the clinical management of patients, performance of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, interpretation of diagnostic tests, prescription of medications, and education. The position offers a supportive environment with growth opportunities to learn and improve critical care skills as well as developing expertise in the management of patients with a range of neurologic diagnoses.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant board certification
  • DEA license, BLS, ACLS certification
  • ENLS training is preferred (can be completed within 1 month of hire)
