Job Description Summary

Assist the Head Baseball Coach in the administration, organization, and daily operation of the baseball program in a manner consistent with the mission and values of Miami University, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the NCAA, and the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Support the development of student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally while ensuring full compliance with all institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Recruiting and Talent Evaluation

  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who demonstrate the academic and athletic qualities necessary for success at Miami University.
  • Determine strategic recruiting priorities, including recruitment timelines, travel schedules, and recruiting territories.
  • Provide recommendations regarding scholarship allocations, roster composition, and overall recruiting strategy.
  • Coordinate and facilitate all official and unofficial campus visits for prospective student-athletes and their families.
  • Assist with roster management and retention efforts.

Coaching and Student-Athlete Development

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and supervising practice sessions, training activities, and player development programs.
  • Contribute to the design and oversight of in-season and out-of-season conditioning programs.
  • Mentor student-athletes in their athletic, academic, and personal development.
  • Monitor student-athlete progress and provide guidance regarding academic responsibilities, time management, and overall well-being.

Program Operations

  • Ensure team facilities, locker rooms, equipment, and game-day operations are organized and prepared for practices, competitions, and visiting teams.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate student managers and other support personnel.
  • Assist with equipment inventory, maintenance, and distribution.
  • Support team travel planning and logistics as assigned.

Compliance and Administration

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and adherence to NCAA, MAC, University, and departmental rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote and monitor institutional compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate student-athlete records and files in accordance with team, departmental, conference, and University requirements.
  • Enforce departmental policies regarding student-athlete conduct, training facilities, and equipment usage.

Academic Support and Student Success

  • Work collaboratively with academic support staff to monitor student-athlete academic progress.
  • Meet with student-athletes to discuss coursework, academic expectations, and degree progress.
  • Communicate with faculty regarding student-athlete absences related to team travel and competition.
  • Encourage a culture of academic excellence and personal accountability.

Departmental Engagement

  • Participate in departmental initiatives, committees, professional development activities, and scheduled meetings.
  • Represent the baseball program and the University in a professional and positive manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Administration.

Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree and experience in recruiting and coaching.

Preferred Qualifications Desire a master's degree; experience in teaching baseball skills
