Job description

Mechanical Millwright Foreman

As a working Mechanical Millwright Foreman this role is responsible for leading a crew to successfully install, maintain, upgrade, dismantle, and fabricate machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings for a Heavy Industrial Contractor.ย 

To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ย The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. ย Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.ย 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

  • Direct and supervise the work of a crew of one or more trades
  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
  • Assemble and install equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools
  • Assemble machinery and bolts, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools
  • Dismantle machinery or equipment, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
  • Repair and lubricate machinery and equipment
  • Select cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved
  • Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hook
  • Set up braces, and rigs hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches
  • Takes personal responsibility for fostering a safe workplace by following safety policies and procedures
  • May perform a variety of duties including those of other positions, and train others in Millwright job duties
  • Complete a daily log, track time in electronic timekeeping system, and complete and upload any required job specific reporting to Procoreย 
  • Complete periodic employee evaluations in Site Docs
  • Perform work of a Millwright in addition to Foreman duties

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:ย  ย ย 

ย  ย High school diploma or GED preferred
ย  ย Three or more years of Millwright Foreman experience
ย  ย Industrial machine experience (such as a forklift) preferred
ย  ย Current OSHA 10 or MSHA Certification preferred
ย  ย TWIC card preferred

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
ย  ย Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
ย  ย Skilled in the standard use of tools and equipment of the profession
ย  ย Ability to work successfully as a team and independently with moderate supervision
ย  ย Ability to understand and follow directions,ย communicate effectively in both oral and written form
ย  ย Ability to visualize a layout by looking at plans and prints as well asย comprehend and trouble-shoot mechanical systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
ย  ย Coordinate eye-hand movements with control and precision
ย  ย Use hands and fingers fully; reach for, manipulate and feel objects; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
ย  ย Climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolds, or high structures; and see and hear well (either naturally or with correction)
ย  ย Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
ย  ย Stoop, lay, bend or squat for long periods of time

WORKING CONDITIONS:
ย  ย May be exposed to fumes, dust or other airborne particles andย loud noises and hazardous chemicals
ย  ย Position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and vibrating machinery
ย  ย May be exposed to extreme outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity or cold and wet conditions

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
ย  ย ย Some overtime, shiftwork, weekends, and holidays may be required

Squares, Levels, Hammers, Pry Bar, Plumb Bob, Wrenches, Allen Keys, Socket Wrenches, Pliers, Files, Trowels, Snips, Chisels, Pipe Wrenches, Clams, Punches and Reamers.
