Visual Merchandising and Retail Supervisor
Department: Customer Service and Retail/Admissions
Employment type: Full-time
Work Schedule: varied hours including weekends, evenings and holidays
Reports to: Retail Manager and Operations Director
Summary: this position manages the Retail staff department, their performance and attendance, as well as the continuous customer service interactions with our guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assign staff to daily positions, establish schedules for daily staff
  • Close and lock-up museum daily
  • Friendly approach to guest service by greeting each guest they encounter
  • Maintain knowledge of and consistently enforce the rules and regulations of the museum (including sales model, refund policy, rainchecks, cashier/register policies, etc.)
  • Assist customers in retail and ticket sales purchases
  • Communicate with management and other employees, including use of two-way radios
  • Be attentive at all times
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment for customers and other employees
  • Provide superior guest service to all customers in a polite and expedient manner
  • Assist customers with all questions regarding City Museum including facility layout and amenities
  • Perform zone walk through and ensure zones are maintained to museum standards
  • Provide visual merchandising practices to increase/generate higher sales
  • Follow all museum policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to provide guidance and supervision to staff members
  • Ability to communicate effectively with public, customers, and staff members
  • Ability to utilize visual merchandising to generate sales
  • Experience in museums, zoos, amusement parks, or tourist centric merchandise and retail operations a plus.
  • Be aware, attentive, and work well with others
  • Energy and enthusiasm for long days
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions while taking precautions, including hydration and sun-protection
  • Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays to meet business needs
  • Approachable and outgoing

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift, carry, move, and/or position items weighing up to or in excess of 25 pounds.
