Job Summary:
Performs a variety of laboratory tests, many of which are complex, involve numerous steps and techniques, and require use of professional judgment. Tests may be performed in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Serology, or Urinalysis. Professional application of the principles, theories, and techniques of laboratory technology are used to produce reliable test results which aid the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Responsible for the performance of routine testing procedures, is accountable for accurate results and proper use of quality control materials, must recognize the interdependence of tests and the conditions that affect test results.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or graduate of an MLT program accredited by NAACLS.
    • Note: Diploma must explicitly state Medical Laboratory Technology. If not, a transcript must be provided to verify compliance with CLIA educational requirements.
  • General or technical experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Chemistry
    • Hematology
    • Coagulation
    • Microbiology
    • Serology
    • Urinalysis
    • Transfusion Medicine
  • Must meet CLIA '88 standards for testing personnel in a high complexity laboratory.
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent.
    • If not certified at the time of hire, must obtain certification within one year of hire date.
