Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our NW Tucson healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and submission of claims, and maintaining patient records. This role is crucial in facilitating the financial operations of our medical office while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.


Duties

  • Review and verify patient information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid claims.
  • Manage medical collections by contacting patients regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements.
  • Maintain organized medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in billing or coding.
  • Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices, including DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) systems.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients regarding billing inquiries and issues.


Requirements

  • 2 yrs plus of proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare systems.
  • Familiarity with medical collection processes and procedures.
  • Experience working in a medical office environment is a plus.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
  • Certification in Medical Billing or Coding is an advantage but not mandatory.
