Job description

Responsibilities & Qualifications
Detailed Description of Responsibilities:
- Facilitate mechanical building system startups & commissioning activities.
- Provide subject matter expert assistance in review of product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering design drawings and specifications, & contractor RFIs.
- Extensive knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA requirements including Lock-Out, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Control of Hazardous Energy, & arc flash safety.
- Possess extensive knowledge of building codes and industry standards (IBC, NEC, NESC, NFPA, ASME, AMCA, ARI, AWS, ASHRAE, FM).
- Coordinate equipment factory testing, delivery, installation, commissioning & handover to end users.
- Coordinate weekend and plant shutdown work with contractors, plant facilities groups, & manufacturing shops.
- Conduct work progress inspections on a continuous basis.
- Support construction administration activities: scheduling, quality confirmations, coordination meetings, and utility outages.
- Conduct inspections of mechanical systems for compliance with specifications, quality standards, & codes.
- Oversee mechanical contractors for adherence to project delivery methods, schedule milestones, & coordination.
- Prepare field engineering status reports for Project Managers.
- Provide input to improve project technical specifications and standards.
- Effectively communicate technical matters in written & verbal formats.
- Ability to multi-task, manage time, & prioritize project commitments.
- Implement building construction projects to support site needs.
- Coordinate construction scheduling and communication.
- Manage daily construction and RFI support.
- Act as liaison between field construction and project management.
- May handle estimates, schedules, materials, and purchase orders.
- Supervise construction activity in the field.
- Coordinate weekend/shutdown work plans.
- Coordinate equipment delivery, installation, and scheduling.
- Knowledge of general building construction methods.
- Monitor equipment installation for compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate RFIs and Field Change Orders.
 
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in industrial or commercial construction projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction means and methods.
- Proficient drawing review and field application abilities.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Ability to manage construction schedules daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Ability to stand, stoop, and walk in large industrial plants for extended periods.
- Ability to ascend & descend stairs to roof or equipment rooms.
- Experience in mechanical system design criteria development.
- Automotive or industrial manufacturing experience.
- 5+ years in mechanical design field.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project.
- Proficient in AutoCAD & Bluebeam
 
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- PMP Certification
- OSHA 30 certification
- Familiar with Autodesk Construction Cloud/Build
