Job description

Summary:

The Wilds Golf Course seeks a professional, friendly bartender to support our newly renovated restaurant and on-site banquet events. This role serves lunch and dinner shifts and provides full bar service for weddings, corporate events, and private functions. The ideal candidate delivers excellent guest service, mixes consistent cocktails, manages bar operations, and helps maintain a clean, welcoming environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests courteously, take and serve drink orders promptly during lunch, dinner, and banquet events.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, craft cocktails, beer, and wine according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Set up, break down, and run bar stations for daily service and banquets (including portable/bar-back stations as needed); ensure timely refill of supplies during events.
  • Maintain accurate cash handling and process transactions using POS systems; close out tabs and reconcile receipts.
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and follow responsible service policies (carding, refusing service when necessary).
  • Assist with inventory control: receive deliveries, rotate stock, count/track inventory, and communicate restocking needs to management.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth food and beverage flow during busy periods.
  • Keep bar, storage, and glassware areas clean and organized; follow health, sanitation, and safety guidelines.
  • Prepare garnishes, syrups, mixers, and proper glassware for service and banquets.
  • Support pre-event planning: help set bar layouts, select service levels (cash/ticket/open bar), and coordinate staffing needs with banquet/event manager.
  • Assist in training new bar staff and support cross-training for servers when required.


Qualifications:

  • 1+ year bartending experience preferred; experience in banquet or high-volume banquet/restaurant environments a plus.
  • Knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, wine, and beer; ability to learn house specialty drinks for our renovated concept.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic cash handling.
  • Responsible Alcohol Service certification (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol) and food handler certificate as required by local regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; guest-service oriented.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays; availability for event-based scheduling.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30-50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.


Preferred:

  • Previous experience at a golf course, country club, or banquet facility.
  • Basic knowledge of wine pairings and mixology.


Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced restaurant and event environment in a renovated facility that may require setup/tear-down for banquets.
  • Uniform/dress code to be provided by management.
  • Reports to Food & Beverage Manager.
