Job Summary

The position will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and creating value in structuring development transactions. This highly visible role will require analytic, energetic, innovative, results-oriented individuals with quick and inquisitive minds. Works toward maximizing revenue, profit and returns through knowledge of finance, contracts, operations, partnerships, insurance, markets, taxation and accounting. Assists with the evaluation of potential acquisitions and development opportunities. Must have ability to work within a team-oriented environment in rapidly evolving markets, and handle multiple assignments.

Key Accountabilities

  • Leads/manages project development and acquisition activities.
  • Negotiates complex transactions.
  • Coordinates with affiliates to create and capitalize on development opportunities.
  • Evaluates development opportunities and identify value-creation opportunities and business structures.
  • Communicates results of analysis to senior management.
  • Negotiates with counterparties to successfully structure transactions.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, business or economics discipline
  • 5 years of experience with an independent energy company, or alternatively, a consulting firm of investment bank focused on energy.

Other Qualifications Preferred:

  • MBA
  • Commercial background

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to identify value-creation opportunities.
  • Must be familiar with all aspects of structuring commercial transactions in the energy industry and in negotiations of the related commercial and financial agreements.
  • Must possess strong project management skills.
  • Excellent modeling skills and experienced in valuation methodologies and financial disciplines.
  • Work well as a leader of large company team, and successfully close complex energy and/or asset related contracts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong presentation skills and the ability to analyze and communicate complex transactions to senior management a must.
  • Ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Must be able to travel as necessary.
  • Ability to function within a matrix organization in which functional and business leaders have equal authority within the organization and employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader.
