Job description

This position provides motivated and skilled Math Tutoring to students in college-level mathematics. This position involves providing in-person tutoring in a welcoming, inclusive environment that fosters academic growth.
This position concentrates on providing face-to-face Math tutoring services to students in the tutoring centers at the Muncie Campus.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Tutor students enrolled in Ivy Tech's Math courses in one-on-one or in small groups following the established protocol in the Tutoring Center.
  • Complete a summary report for each student upon completion of a session.
  • Work with faculty when necessary to ensure best possible outcomes for students.
  • Sustain high quality customer service while facilitating back-to-back tutoring sessions
  • Apply advanced problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve student questions and inquiries.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams-including faculty-utilizing transparent and empathetic communication to help elevate departmental services and contribute to team initiatives.

The above listed functions require various degrees of independence, judgment and discretion, and the ability to be mobile in the office and/or work area.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or documented proficiency in Math subject matter
  • Experience in tutoring with adult learners and a diverse population
  • Knowledge of college tutoring process.
  • Over two (2) years of related experience in a computerized work environment.
