What is a weekend material handler?

Weekend Material Handlers are employees responsible for moving, organizing, and managing materials or products within a warehouse or distribution center, specifically during weekend shifts. Their duties may include loading and unloading trucks, stocking shelves, tracking inventory, and ensuring that materials are stored safely and efficiently. What skills and qualifications are needed to be a weekend material handler?

To thrive as a Weekend Material Handler, you need physical stamina, attention to detail, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), forklifts, and inventory scanning tools is often required, along with applicable safety certifications. Job description

Heavy Equipment Material Handler
West Memphis, AR | Newberry Tanks & Equipment
Since 1927, Newberry Tanks & Equipment has been manufacturing steel storage tanks for customers across the oil & gas, agriculture, industrial, and construction industries. We're looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Material Handler to help keep production moving and ensure finished tanks are safely staged and prepared for shipment.
This position is ideal for someone with experience operating heavy material handling equipment and safely moving large, oversized products throughout a manufacturing facility.
What You'll Do
  • Operate heavy material handling equipment to move steel materials, components, and finished tanks throughout the facility and yard.
  • Safely load, unload, transport, and position large tanks and oversized products.
  • Organize and maintain the finished tank yard to ensure products are properly staged, accessible, and ready for shipment.
  • Coordinate with production, paint, and shipping teams to support daily operations and customer delivery schedules.
  • Inspect loads and equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with company safety standards.
  • Assist with paint and other production activities as needed to support workflow and team success.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience operating Travel Lifts, Boom Lifts, or similar heavy industrial equipment used to move oversized loads.
  • Experience safely moving large, heavy, or irregularly shaped products in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, marine, or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of load positioning, equipment limitations, clearances, and safe material handling practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work closely with multiple departments.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Willingness to support other departments when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating both Travel Lifts and Boom Lifts.
  • Experience working in a steel fabrication, manufacturing, shipyard, construction, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience organizing outdoor storage yards, staging finished products, or supporting shipping operations.
  • Experience moving oversized loads with cranes, reach stackers, heavy load handlers, or other specialized lifting equipment.
  • High school diploma or GED.
Important Note: This is not a forklift-only position. While forklift experience is helpful, the strongest candidates will have experience operating Travel Lifts, Boom Lifts, or similar heavy equipment used to safely move oversized industrial products.
Why Join Newberry?
  • Join a company with nearly 100 years of manufacturing excellence.
  • Work with a team that values safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Operate specialized equipment and develop valuable industrial skills.
  • Be part of a growing operation that serves customers across the United States.
  • Competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for growth.

If you take pride in operating heavy equipment, prioritize safety, and have experience moving oversized loads, we'd like to hear from you.
